Privacy.
This page sets out what happens to your information when you use this website or work with us. The full wording below is legal text, not marketing copy, and is written to be accurate rather than reassuring.
What this covers
This policy covers personal information collected through nawiratech.com and its sister addresses (nawiratech.co.uk and nawira.co.uk, which send you to the same site), and through the emails and calls that follow an enquiry. “We”, “us” and “Nawira Tech” mean the business that runs this site. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) we are the controller of the information described here. You can reach us at support@nawiratech.com.
What we collect
Only what you give us, plus a small amount of technical information every website receives.
What you give us: your name and email address when you use the contact form or ask us to email you your free check results; your phone number if you choose to add one; and whatever you write in your message. If you email or call us, we keep what you tell us in that conversation.
The quiz runs in your browser, and your answers are not sent to us unless you choose to use the “email me my three fixes” form, which sends only the name and email address you type into it. The free website check works differently: when you type in a website address, our server visits that public website, measures its speed with Google’s PageSpeed Insights, and passes what it found to an AI provider (Anthropic, or OpenRouter as a back-up) to write the plain-English review. We keep the finished report for up to six hours so a repeat check is quick, and we do not link it to you.
If you use the chat assistant, what you type is sent to the same AI providers to write a reply. We do not ask for personal details in the chat and we do not store the conversation ourselves. If you choose to leave your name and email in the short form the chat offers, we receive them, with what you wrote in the chat, as an enquiry like any other.
If you ring our AI receptionist number, an AI voice agent answers. ElevenLabs runs the voice and Twilio provides the phone line. A transcript and a summary of the call are kept and sent to us as an enquiry, and the agent tells you so at the start of the call. Please do not give card or bank details on the call.
Technical information: like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, which it uses to deliver the site and keep it secure. To stop automated abuse we use Cloudflare’s Turnstile check to confirm you are a person, and we keep a daily counter tied to your IP address, for about a day, so that one visitor cannot run the chat or the free check hundreds of times.
How we use it
To reply to your enquiry, to send you what you asked for, to prepare and deliver work you commission, and to keep the site secure and working. Our lawful basis for replying to an enquiry is that you asked us to (steps taken at your request before a contract) and, once you are a client, that we need the information to carry out the contract. Keeping the site secure and understanding how many people use it is a legitimate interest of ours, and we keep it proportionate.
We do not sell your information and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Who we share it with
Only the providers that help us run the site and answer you. These act on our instructions:
Cloudflare, which hosts and secures this website, delivers our email, checks that visitors are people and provides privacy-friendly visitor statistics that do not use cookies. Google, whose email service holds the inboxes that enquiries are delivered to and whose PageSpeed Insights tool measures the speed of the websites our free check looks at. Anthropic and OpenRouter, the AI providers that write the chat assistant’s replies and the free check’s review. ElevenLabs and Twilio, which run the AI receptionist’s voice and phone line. Some of these providers are based outside the UK, so information can be transferred there; where that happens it is covered by the safeguards those providers offer under UK data protection law.
We may also share information where the law requires it. We do not share your information with anyone else without asking you first.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept for up to 12 months after our last contact with you, then deleted. If we work together, we keep the records of that work, including invoices, for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is currently up to six years. Technical logs held by our hosting provider are kept for the short period that provider sets. We do not keep chat conversations ourselves. Call transcripts and summaries are kept as enquiries and deleted on the same timetable.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you; ask us to correct it; ask us to delete it; ask us to limit or stop how we use it; and ask for it in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, email support@nawiratech.com and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather hear from you first, so we can put it right.
Cookies
This site’s use of cookies is covered separately, on the cookies page.
